18 Questions about Startup Weekend Women!

1. What is Startup Weekend Women all about?

Startup Weekend Women is a weekend-long event in which participants will get a chance to take a deep dive into entrepreneurship! In just 54 hours, you will experience the highs, lows, fun, and pressure that make up life at a startup. As you learn how to create a real company, you’ll meet the very best mentors, investors, co-founders, and sponsors who are ready to help you get started.

2. Who can attend Startup Weekend Women?

Startup Weekend Women is the perfect opportunity for female entrepreneurs to come together and take the first step of their startup journey. However, male participants may also participate in the weekend long event.

3. What sort of a business idea can I pitch?

Anything and everything. It can be your solution to a problem you face in your everyday life or a reworked model of an existing idea. It can be something you’ve been thinking about for years or it can be something you’ve thought of at the event!

4. Do I absolutely need a business idea beforehand?

Absolutely not. You can listen to the ideas that other participants share and choose to work on their teams!

5. Do I need to have a team to register?

Not really. You are already an army-of-one. You are, however, encouraged to join with other participants that you will meet at the event to form a team to foster collaboration and teamwork!

6. Will I end up embarrassing myself?

No chance. There is no pre-requisite for attending the event. The Startup Weekend Women program is built to accommodate everyone, from newcomers to seasoned professionals. Even Mark Zuckerberg or Steve Jobs had a starting point – this could be yours!

7. What will happen to my business idea once the event is over?

Why don’t you ask Trash It, the winners of our previously-held Startup Weekend Karachi 2017? The young startup has gone on to garner international recognition and further establish their business. Theirs is just one success story among plenty of others that emerge from the event globally. We want to help you write yours!

8. I already have a working startup. Can I still apply?

Of course! The event will be a fantastic opportunity to get guidance from mentors, meet others who are interested in joining your team and get further validation on your business model. Do note, however, that you will ultimately be judged based on what you achieve over the weekend, not on what you have achieved in the past.

9. Is there a waiver for the ticket fees?

We want our event to be all-inclusive. We have made provisions to waiver the ticket price for a select few participants who are able to demonstrate a need for financial aid. To request a waiver, simply fill in required field in the registration form.
