Pitch@Palace aims to equip entrepreneurs with a credible platform to pitch their businesses to monarchs, business angels, business investors and potential partners at St. James’s Palace, London. Taking place as part of the Commonwealth Summit, and in line with the Commonwealth Summit theme, “Towards a Common Future, the theme for Pitch@Palace Commonwealth is “Human Tech – Benefits for Humanity”, which addresses the need to harness technology to build a healthier and more sustainable future. The programme aims to support entrepreneurs who have identified opportunities in the areas of Biotech and Medtech; Education; Energy, Environment and Renewable Technology; Internet Security; Consumer Goods and IOT; Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning; and Communications, Media and Entertainment.

“We’re honoured to represent Pakistan at the Commonwealth Summit, and show a positive side of the startup ecosystem here. We want to solve a problem that has been ignored for far too long. With our model, everyone will be able to afford a home – something that is a basic human right, but unfortunately, not readily available to everyone” commented Yaseen Khalid Co-Founder of Modulus Tech who is representing the startup at the Commonwealth Summit. Yaseen and fellow civil engineers and co-founders Nabeel Siddiqui and Mohammad Saquib felt that this was an issue that  needed to be addressed.

Modulus Tech, a startup that graduated from The Nest I/O in Karachi, aims to revolutionise the low-cost housing sector to support displaced and homeless people. Using Building Information Modeling (BIM) and solar energy simulations, they have come up with a way to build a model in just 3 hours under USD 3,000 (PKR 300,000). The startup will be competing in the category of Energy, Environment, and Renewable Technology at Pitch@Palace Commonwealth Boot Camp and have the opportunity to receive support and mentoring from industry experts from around the world and Pitch@Palace alumni.

“It’s a great opportunity not just for Modulus Tech to show their strength globally but also a step forward for the country to be represented and have local talent recognized internationally. It is time the world knows that Pakistani startups are not just aware of global challenges but are also responding to them in an effective manner through the use of technology” commented Jehan Ara, President P@SHA and The Nest I/O.

This year the competition will be taking place at St. James’s Palace, London, on April 16, 2018.
